Why this blog: fun in fundraising?
Well, from time to time I will be writing a blog on fundraising in English.
Some time ago two fundraisers came up with the idea of starting a crowdblog for fundraisers. Many fundraisers have interesting stories to tell. We can learn from each other's experience. Most fundraisers don't have the time to fill a weblog of their own though. Sharing a weblog between us is a nice alternative.
When I heard about this, I thought I would write for the 101fundraising crowdblog as well. I realized that perhaps not all of my material would be taken up for the blog. Some of what I write may not fit the format of the 101fundraising blog (at least 250 words). Besides, the editors may have different ideas about what is interesting. Apart from that, I may want to write about my own experience more often than the editors will allow me.
I do make one rule for myself, this blog will be about fundraising and non profit organisations only, and not about being a freelancer (as my Dutch blog is).
There is one more reason for starting a second blog about my work as a fundraiser. From time to time I am working with people from abroad. And sometimes it is nice to be able to put my ideas about fundraising online. I could put it in between my Dutch pieces on the other weblog, but this would make it hard to find the material written in English. This is a lot easier to find.
So here we are, another weblog. As it happens, I have just produced a blog post for the 101 fundraising blog, and it will be published on Wednesday April 27th.
